A package divorce is one where the parties, the attorney and the mediator agree to complete the divorce proceedings for a flat fee.

the parties must agree to work in good faith with the aattorney and mediator to resolve the issues within reasonable time guidelines established before the process starts.

Generally, the process starts with you meeting with the attorney and sharing information about your situation.  Since each case is unique, the attorney and mediator will make an estimate of the time involved to complete the proceedings based upon the information you provide.  You will receive a quote for the cost involved to complete the proceedings.

Once the agreement is signed by the parties, a mediation session is scheduled where the parties meet with the mediator and resolve any outstanding issues.  The mediator and attorney will also have a thorough checklist they complete to make sure all the issues are addressed and resolved quickly and fairly.  Generally, the mediation sessions takes 3-4 hours and includes mediation of the marital dissolution agreement and parenting plan.

As soon as the mediation session is successfully completed, you meet with the attorney who will complete all the necessary forms and pleadings.  The attorney will review them with you, you will sign them and the attorney will fully inform you about the next steps. A brief court appearance may be required.
